Overview

Lake Turkana — the Jade Sea — sits in Kenya's arid northwestern frontier, cradled by volcanic islands and ancient lakeshore communities. This expedition visits the El Molo, Kenya's smallest ethnic group, living on the lake's southern shore as they have for millennia, fishing from reed rafts. Further north, the Turkana people share their traditions of cattle herding, elaborate jewellery, and warrior culture in one of the world's most dramatic landscapes. Central Island National Park offers nesting Nile crocodiles and flamingos amid the volcanic crater lakes.
